About Me

My name is Sara Walker, I am 19 years old and a sophomore here at Florida State. I am from an extremely small town called Clewiston, FL and it is located south of Lake Okeechobee. We are known for the professional fishing tournaments we have and also for our sugar cane that is produced in the U.S. Sugar Corporation founded in Clewiston. You have most definitely had sugar from my town which is really cool to me. More about my personality though, I am very introverted and don't go out much because I prefer my room more. I do have friends though, I promise. My brother is actually my fraternal twin but if you saw us in the same room as each other you would never know. Having a twin is a great bonus for when you have to tell a fun fact about yourself.

I started using technology in a class setting in elementary school, as did most of you. This is when smart boards became highly popular and every class had them installed, replacing their chalk board. Our teacher began doing everything off of it and it was more exciting for us to learn and engage in class. In middle school is when we started using "clickers" for tests and quizzes. The teacher would just set up the assignment on the board and we would would just use our clickers to answer the questions. I personally didn't like this because we were timed for each question. Then in high school we moved up a level to chrome books. We would do all our tests and some in class assignments with these which was interesting, especially the last year when teachers could see what websites you were on from their computer and could kick you off of it.

In this class I hope to learn more about why technology is so important and how it could improve even more in the future. Technology is literally everywhere you look and is quite impossible to get away from since everything requires it now. I hope to learn more on using different things like Excel and different types of software which could help me in other classes as well. I'm hoping this class will help me learn more about using technology in an educational environment, especially for my future since I am wanting to become an educator. Creative Commons License

  1. Once I hoped to be a twin when I was reading a book because they could help each other to attend a class when one of them could not make it. :-) I hope you can come up with your own conclusion about how to incorporate technologies in education as a teaching strategy at the end of this class.
