My twitter experience has been quite fun. It’s cool to interact with those who have the same interests as me and to learn about things going on in education at the moment. I’ve learned a few things from being on twitter academically, one is that there is such a big community of educators using twitter for the good which is very surprising to me. I never really thought about how social media isn't just for fun, it can be used to learn as well. I haven't experienced any issues because twitter is such a positive environment when used this way. When used for fun, there is a lot of hate and awful things that are being spread online, but used academically, it has been really positive and everyone is helping each other. The benefits of using twitter like I mentioned before, is that you can interact with those who are interested in the same thing as you. It’s nice to relate and talk about those things.

Some of the new skills I required from the Web Design assignment are learning how to make links open in a new page and literally creating a website. I always struggled with this step but now I understand how to do it successfully. I always wondered how people make websites and knew that it would be quite the struggle for me but afterwards I learned how simple in fact it was. I used Weebly and I liked how they guided you the whole way so you weren't confused the entire time. I was easy enough for me to navigate and now I can do this again in the future with no struggle at all. I honestly didn't have anything I didn’t like about this. It was fun and simple to do. I can improve next time because I won’t be struggling with certain things like the links opening in a new page, I got better at certain skills and will be able to do it confidently next time. This assignment helped me because I want to be a teacher in the future so I will be able to make my own website to upload things like weekly newsletters, important dates, and lessons for my classroom.

Assistive and adaptive technologies are those that help people with any kind of disabilities. My cousin is deaf and he has an extremely hard time with technology like watching videos. This isnt really a technology in itself but just having captions on things are extremely helpful. When we go to the movie theatre he gets very bored and has to go walk around the lobby because he can’t really stand watching things he doesn’t understand for that long. If it’s action movies though, and there aren't many words, he loves it. This is why I wish every movie being put in the theatre had a special time just for those who have a hard time hearing; it wouldn't even be bad if they started adding captions to every movie anyways, they want to enjoy things like the rest of us. The challenges I perceive when using adaptive technologies in my classroom is if there are problems with the technology such as troubleshooting. My students without disabilities do not necessarily need technology so they will have an easier time learning but if my students with disabilities need it, I will have to find a new method of teaching them.
