Blog Journal #10
As a teacher I believe I will use surveys and excel a lot to get back important information/storing that important information. Surveys are an awesome way to get quick feedback from your students. Since I want to teach second grade, I might use surveys by asking them about their knowledge on a topic before we start on it, that way I will know where everyone is at in the classroom. I would love to keep track of my students test grades using excel, so that I can see if they have excelled on a certain subject or have fallen behind. This will give me insight on what I should focus more on topic/subject wise.
Over the blog posts that I have read from my classmates, I found everyone’s LIPs to be the most interesting. A lot of people did other things than me and it was cool to see how their experiences were different than mine. Another topic I found interesting was everyone’s thoughts on our PLN projects we did during this class. Such as, some thought Diigo was really helpful and great, while others found it hard to work and not great at all. Another topic I liked was what everyone learned from doing our assignments. I found some people learned the same skills as me and others learned skills that I already knew, it’s cool to see my classmates familiarity with certain tools while I struggled more.
What technology related skill I would love to learn next is Facebook. Yes, this has been around since I was in 5th grade but I don’t use it. To most people it is mainly used for personal posts, but I believe it can be used as a learning network. Facebook is very similar to Twitter as it is essentially posting your thoughts, sharing interesting information, and replying to others. I want to try Facebook to see if I can create this platform for myself to go and learn and relate to other people that are interested in the same things as I am.
