A flipped classroom is a way of teaching. The pedagogy of a flipped classroom is where students basically learn the material on their own and in the classroom, discuss what they learned. This can be beneficial on a certain degree, but not all classes thrive off of this method. For instance, I once had a calculus class in high school where the teacher uploaded videos online for us to watch and learn, and then in class, we did the homework, he didn't want to help us either. Math is just not a subject that you can do this method with, you have to teach them step by step and be there to help them. But, in classes where it’s just mainly reading things at home and then coming in to discuss them, this method might flourish. It honestly depends on the students preference of learning.
Open educational resources are resources that are available to everyone and anyone. They are usually based online. Having open educational resources is very beneficial for students who are already spending so much money on college courses; they are able to use these resources which can save them a lot of money. Lumen Learning is a great example of open educational resources; on this website, their goal is to help students with the cost of textbooks, they offer them really affordable course materials so that the student will be able to thrive and not have to worry about how expensive textbooks can be.
The new skills I acquired from these two PowerPoint assignments, are including buttons to take you to a different page, designing my own layout, and adding voice to it. What I didn't like about this was how difficult it was for me to actually record my voice and keep redoing it. Sometimes I would redo one slide and it would completely delete the next one, forcing me to start all over. What I did like was how easy it was to design my PowerPoint and create the buttons. I had no clue they existed before this; I absolutely love them and am planning to use them in my other classes. I could maybe improve next time but planning out my ideas and slides first instead of just going for it. That way it will be more organized and faster.
